Marc Maron and Danny Fields discuss Damone Ramone

The current episode of the WTF podcast is a fascinating discussion between rock and roll impresario Danny Fields and the brilliant and hilarious host: the comedian, writer, and actor Marc Maron. Danny Fields discusses his time at Andy Warhol’s factory and his difficulties with Jim Morrison when he worked as The Doors’ publicist. He explains his role in the infamous Beatles “More popular than Jesus” incident that sparked protests and record burnings in the United States. He discusses discovering and signing Detroit’s MC5 and Iggy and the Stooges, and his management of the Ramones, among other topics.

Toward the end of their conversation at the 1:37 mark, Danny and Marc discuss Damone Ramone: A Rock and Roll Betrayal. The episode is here.

Marc Maron’s book is called Waiting for the Punch, a collection of some of his best conversations with actors, writers, comedians, politicians (President Obama), and others:

My Ramones is Danny Fields’s beautiful collection of photographs he took while managing and touring with the Ramones (it was a limited edition of 1000 books, and is now difficult to find).

And here is Damone Ramone: A Rock and Roll Betrayal. Damone Ramone is also available at The Punk Rock Museum.
